Basic Basketball Handling Skills Program for Kids
Moms and dads, join us in this exciting opportunity to learn the fundamentals of basketball alongside your kids in this FREE 4-week basketball program, organized by the BEST Center! This program is designed to teach essential basketball skills while fostering teamwork, discipline, and a love for the game.
WEEK 1
BALL HANDLING CONFIDENCE
We kick off the basketball program with a focus on building ball handling confidence. In Week 1, participants will engage in basic ball handling drills and exercises such as Ball Tipping, Figures of 8, and Front Back Dribbling. These activities are designed to enhance their control of the basketball while improving hand-eye coordination. Children will learn to maneuver the ball effectively, setting a solid foundation for their basketball skills.
WEEK 2
BALL HANDLING DRILLS
In Week 2, the focus expands to more advanced ball handling drills. Kids will learn techniques such as Crossover Dribbling, Between-the-legs Dribbling, and Side-to-Side Dribbling. These drills will help them develop agility and quick decision-making on the court, essential skills for effective gameplay.
WEEK 3
BALL HANDLING CONFIDENCE PART 2
Building on their skills, Week 3 emphasizes further development of ball handling confidence with drills like Protect Dribbling, Straddle Flip, and Blur. These exercises will reinforce their ability to control the ball under pressure.
WEEK 4
BALL HANDLING CONFIDENCE PART 3
To conclude the program, Week 4 will focus on improving shooting form alongside ball handling skills. Participants will learn how to shoot while sitting, practice Speed Dribbling, and engage in the Drop Clap Catch drill. This final week will help solidify their skills and prepare them for future basketball activities, ensuring they leave the program with increased confidence and ability.
